The birthplace of Gannan navel oranges and a national 4A-level scenic spot – Anxi Town, Xinfeng County, Jiangxi Province, where China’s Gannan Navel Orange Industrial Park is located, has a slope of yellow oranges, and the branches are full of fruits. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of navel oranges in Xinfeng County. After decades of development, the navel orange industry has become famous all over the world. The planting area of navel oranges in Xinfeng County has exceeded 250,000 mu. “The world’s navel oranges look at Gannan, Gannan navel oranges look at Xinfeng, and Xinfeng navel oranges look at Anxi”, Anxi Town stretches across Dayuling and the rest of Jiulian Mountains, with a unique geographical environment, a mild and moderate climate, a mountainous area of 230,000 mu, and forests. The coverage rate is 86%. In its heyday, Anxi navel oranges had a planting area of 45,000 mu, nearly 1.6 million plants, and more than 3,400 fruit farmers.
Anxi Town started to build a navel orange town in the second half of 2016, with the navel orange industry as the core, to tap the navel orange culture, to open up unique rural tourism routes, and to build a four-in-one platform of “production, city, people and culture”.
On August 3, 2017, the list of the first batch of characteristic towns in Jiangxi Province was announced, and Gannan Navel Orange Town in Xinfeng County was listed. In 2018, China’s Gannan Navel Orange Industrial Park was successfully selected as a national 4A-level tourist attraction. On the site of the awarding ceremony, the 3D dynamic simulation effect of China’s Gannan Navel Orange Expo Center led the audience into the colorful world of navel orange trees in four seasons: “Spring” butterflies flying orange blossoms, “Summer” young green fruits climb the trees, “Autumn” The autumn rain helps the fruit to ripen, and the fruit of “winter” shines on the branches.
In 2020, the official website of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced the list of industrial tourism demonstration bases in Jiangxi Province in 2019, and China’s Gannan Navel Orange Industrial Park was among them.

The village sages also participated in drafting various materials such as the declaration of Gannan navel orange town, cooperated with the town to provide advice and suggestions to sages in other villages, and compiled literary and historical works such as “Anxi Town Chronicles”, “Anxi History” and “Traveling in Anxi”.
Anqian Village is the first village to grow navel oranges in Anxi Town. It is adjacent to Gannan Navel Orange Industrial Park in China. With its unique location advantages, rich navel orange resources, and beautiful ecological environment, the village combines industrial development, rural tourism, rural civilization, and party building to create beautiful rural tourism spots.
Gannan navel orange town is full of Gannan navel orange culture. Relying on Anxi’s natural environment, historical context and folk customs, it enhances the town’s attractiveness and vitality in “one town, one style”, and has a great impact on Xinfeng’s farming culture, Hakka culture and Anxi’s historical sites and other long-standing historical cultures have been deeply excavated.
Xinfeng had 25 Jinshi in ancient times. The family tree of Yang Clan in Xikeng, Huayuan Village, Jiading Town records that “Yang Tingwei, Jinshi, was born in Anxi (Note: Anxi’s former name)”, and the Shangjing River and Chongdun River pass through the Wei However, at the intersection of the former Anxi Elementary School on Xiabao Street, there are three main streets, Shang, Zhong, and Xiabao, on the plaza. Many dialects of the residents retain the ancient charm of the Central Plains. Zhongshan Park by the Xiabao River is available for recreation, sun drying and grazing. In September 1994, Xinfeng County Navel Orange Farm registered the “Xiangfeng” brand navel orange trademark, which was the earliest registered trademark of Gannan navel oranges, opening up its beauty and rich heart one by one.

About 10 kilometers southeast of Anxixu, Shuihui Village is far from Hushan Yudai Bridge, Tianlong and Xiangshan. Entering from the Dazhen Bridge of Turtle Lake is a “hot water lake”, which is hot in all seasons. The horseshoe dam house on the edge of the hot water lake is the living place of the villagers surnamed Wu. The 26 flagpole stones in front of Wu’s ancestral hall are listed in the Shunzhi, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Tongzhi and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty.
Chongdun Mansion is an ancient village where the surname Huang lived. Chong means Chongwen, that is, advocating culture; Dun means honesty, that is, loyalty and duty, which can be summarized as “Chongwen honest, filial piety ancient village”. The rivers and lakes dam, the Anxi River passes through the village, the ancestor of the Yuan clan, Zhi Jungong, served as the governor of Guangdong, and later settled in Wentang, Dongguan, on the way to return to his hometown, becoming the first ancestor of the Yuan clan to enter Guangdong.
Tian Long is quite distinctive among the four She ethnic villages in Xinfeng. On the third day of the third lunar month, the villagers of the She nationality in Tianlong celebrate the Wufan Festival, gather in the ancestral hall, sing and sing in memory of their ancestors, and cook and eat black rice to inherit the traditional virtues of the She family. Anxi has a deep history of red, and the Tongzigang blocking battle was the last battle for the Red Army to break through the first blockade, and it will be recorded in history forever. Shangjing Reservoir and Fragrant Mountain reflect each other. It is located in Dongshangjing Village, Anxi Town, and is adjacent to Hailuozhai in the southwest. There is an access road in the reservoir area connecting Jinpenshan National Forest Park. The existing Red Army trench remains on the south side of the reservoir dam.
Through Fragrant Mountain, Shangjing, Hot Water Lake… It is easy to connect people with the Jade Belt Bridge in Hushan Township. Previously, the area of Zhonghe Village in Hushan belonged to Anxi’s jurisdiction, resulting in a deep marriage between Anxi and Hushan, and thus extending the “one water” and “one street” of Anxi’s union for generations.
